Conflicts, problems, and issues are inevitable. Sometimes, we have the power to have it under control but most of the time, we don’t. The effect it has on us can be gut-wrenching and ugly. And it’s okay to say that we’re not okay. It might take you a while to learn this simple fact but hopefully, after reading this, you’ll understand just how embracing your emotions is an essential part of life.
Shaming yourself for feeling something negative and pushing it down to make it disappear is like leaving trash in the basement for weeks or months until it rots away and fills your entire house with its odor. We all know how horrible it’ll be.
Instead of forcing our not-so-good feelings to go away, why don’t we tell ourselves that we’re not okay and that’s okay instead? Acknowledging and validating our feelings- no matter how ugly they are is the most resilience-building act of self love we can honor ourselves.
Things will not always go our way because that’s just how life works. And when life’s tough enough already, do we actually need to be tough on ourselves too? There’s something profound in looking deeply at yourself and saying, “I’m not okay and it’s okay because I’m a human being; I am not bulletproof.” Admitting something’s wrong is the first step to healing.
I’m going to tell you that you’re capable- that yes, things can get horribly wrong sometimes but if you learn how to deal with them in a healthy manner that works for you, you’ll be unstoppable. Be more kind and compassionate to yourself when the world isn’t.
This is such an important message💕
